Frequently asked questions
What does Sisi Nurse actually do?
Sisi Nurse is a matching platform. Tell us what kind of care you need and we connect you with a vetted, registered doctor or nurse — and, when a prescription is involved, with a partner pharmacy that fulfils it. The clinical relationship is between you and your practitioner; we just make finding the right one easier.
Is Sisi giving me medical advice?
No. Sisi (the AI assistant) provides general health information to help you understand what kind of care you might need. For actual diagnosis or treatment, get matched with a doctor or nurse — they will give you clinical advice based on your specific situation. See our safety page for the full distinction.
How are your doctors and nurses verified?
Every clinician we match you with has cleared verification against the appropriate professional body in their country — the HPCSA and SANC for South Africa, the MDCN and NMCN for Nigeria. We check ID, license number, and practice number, sign an NDA, and review the relationship on an ongoing basis. See our safety page for the full standards.
Which countries do you serve?
We are live in South Africa and Nigeriatoday, with additional African markets in the 2026 expansion plan. If you're outside our live regions, the AI can still help you understand what kind of care you might need, and we'll let you know when matching opens in your country.
How do prescriptions work?
If your matched doctor decides a prescription is appropriate, they issue an e-prescription that we securely route to a partner pharmacy of your choice. The pharmacy verifies the prescription, dispenses, and arranges collection or delivery. You can see our pharmacy network on /pharmacies.
Is my health information private?
Yes. We treat health information as the most sensitive category of data we hold. We are POPIA-compliant in South Africa and NDPA-compliant in Nigeria. We never sell your data, never share with third parties without your explicit consent (except where required by law), and never train AI models on your conversations. You can request export or deletion any time — privacy@oshun.africa. Full detail on /privacy.
What if I'm having an emergency?
Sisi is not for emergencies. If you or someone else is in immediate medical danger, contact your local emergency services first:
- South Africa: 10177 (ambulance), 112 (general)
- Nigeria: 112 (universal emergency)
I'm a clinician — how do I join?
Apply via /doctors. We're onboarding carefully — both countries, primary care first, with priority for general practice, paediatrics, women's health, and chronic disease management. Pharmacies can apply via /pharmacies.
